Moving Scotland came back to Power Programming with some new requirements for their current site.

Business Objectives

After Power Programming successfully delivered the first version of the site, Moving Scotland came back to us to ask for some new objectives. These new objectives were

  • To have all content managed online via a secure entry point
  • To improve on the search facilities
  • To have a customer section which allows users of the site to request updates of new properties, via email.
  • To consider a new scheme of branding
  • To move from the current technology used for the web site (Perl) to a more modern one (ASP)

Activities

Power Programming and Moving Scotland had several meeting to discuss the best options for their new objectives, we discussed the following

  • Look and feel
  • Whether the current Business application for data capture would be retained
  • Whether Moving Scotland's internal business processes would change
  • How the Customer Notification Service will operate
  • Come up with design goals
  • Agree a time frame for core deliverables

    • Full online WYSIWYG editing of web content
    • Panoramic tours of properties
    • Property Assistant implementation
      • This allows users to specify the criteria of the properties that they are interested in, and the web site will automatically notify them of new properties or status changes of existing properties.
  • Business application to Web portal synchronisation
    • The original Moving Scotland process synchronisation was modified to allow changes on both sides (business app v web portal or web portal v business app) to be synchronised.
